Recent Advocacy Services

• Partnered with the Nashville office of the Disability Law and Advocacy Center (DLAC) to provide an opportunity for Deaf and hard of hearing persons to meet with a trained legal advocate.
• Participated in the disability working group of Access to Justice Commission's Committee on Disability and Language Barriers.
• Participated in Legislative Awareness Day at Legislative Plaza in March with information booth set up in main hallway near committee rooms.
• Continued providing information to key legislators regarding hearing aids (needs and cost benefits) related to three bills that were being considered requiring insurance coverage of assistive hearing devices.
• Participation in Tennessee Disability Voter committee, supporting full implementation by State of Tennessee of HAVA (Help America Vote Act) relative to needed accommodations to those with disabilities or communication differences.
• Participation on ADA committee for the Metro Airport Authority to ensure appropriate accommodations at airport for Deaf and Hard of Hearing travelers.
• Participation on ADA committee with Metro Transit Authority to ensure appropriate accommodations for Deaf and Hard of Hearing bus passengers.
• Participation on Mayor's ADA committee to ensure access and appropriate accommodations for Deaf and Hard of Hearing citizens in Metro government offices and facilities.
