I will admit it. I’m scared. If you haven’t heard, the League is changing its name. While I know change is a necessity for growth, and without it, almost the death-knell for a nonprofit agency, a change this significant is not made without a lot of thought. It would have been just as fool-hearted to take this name change lightly as it would have been to pass over the opportunity completely. We have taken it seriously with a fantastic name-change team working on the details over the summer, and we have a giant reveal party and celebration planned for November 9.
What’s the new name? Of course you are all invited to our Open House reveal to find out! I hope you like it. Just as the committee, board, and staff struggled with the decision, clients and supporters may, too. But, I hope you will remember that while it is important, and it’s a symbol of who we are, we are not just a name. This agency with an 80-year history will continue to serve D/deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing individuals who need us for many, many years to come no matter what you call us!
What a thrill to be a part of this amazing agency! Please join us Monday, November 9, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. to help us celebrate the next phase of service to those struggling with hearing loss.
