Description: This training will provide a framework for delineating between right vs. wrong and right vs. right decisions. It will explore the differences in moral decisions and ethical dilemmas by carefully assessing how people resolve conflicts using a variety of identifiable techniques. Examples will be discussed comparing the NAD-RID CPC with common societal paradigms.
Educational Objectives: At the end of this training participants will be able to
Target Audience: Interpreters and ITP students (this training will satisfy the annual requirements for ethics hours for KY licensed interpreters and for uncertified contractors working for Bridges).
The Presenter: Laurie Cribb, CI, CT, SC:L, NIC Master. After attending Maryville College in east Tennessee, Ms. Cribb began her career as a freelance interpreter in Knoxville. A few years later, she moved to Nashville to join the staff of Bridges, a not-for-profit agency, where she is currently the Senior Staff Interpreter. She has been interpreting for 15 years, and currently works in both the community and in VRS. Ms. Cribb has presented numerous workshops on topics such as national certification test preparation, ethics, interpreting in religious settings, voice interpreting, and legal interpreting. She has held officer positions on the state (TRID) and local (NTRID) levels, and was the recipient of the 2006 Region II President’s Choice Award.
